Nobby Head North to Minilya

Battling strong headwinds. 657 kms @ 90kph @ 16.5 litres / 100kms

We left Nobby North early, leaving the cold 6 degrees Celsius in the morning and travelled up the Northwest Coastal Highway at around 90-100kph, due to blustery headwinds.

We made unremarkable progress due to these headwinds that made Troy very thirsty. Refuelling at Geraldton and purchasing some last minute supplies (a bag of firewood and some extra bottles of water), we made our way north to warmer Carnarvon with a balmy 23 degrees. There were mostly other caravanners and road trains on the road. We did a Cooks tour of Carnarvon and noticed a town trying to rebuild itself after being devastated by a recent cyclone. While a swish new residential district appeared in the harbour area, it was sad to see many of the surrounding banana and mango plantations still struggling to rebuild.
